This non-contact, home-study training explores how trauma may affect neurodivergent children and adolescents and how practitioners can provide responsive, developmentally appropriate, and neurodiversity-affirming care. Participants will examine trauma through a neurodiversity-informed lens, recognizing that trauma responses may interact with differences in communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, social experiences, and patterns of attachment and connection. The training introduces the AutPlay Therapy framework as a structured approach for understanding and supporting the mental-health needs of neurodivergent young people. Established trauma approaches will also be discussed as part of an integrative treatment process. The training will consider how trauma-informed concepts and interventions can be adapted to meet a child's neurodivergent spectrum of presentation.
