This training will focus on a brief overview of sensory processing differences and how the child and play therapist can be aware, friendly, and affirming of children with sensory differences. The training will present pragmatic ideas for making play therapy offices and playrooms affirming for sensory needs. Information about toys and materials that can enhance the playroomexperience for sensory children is also provided.
Define the concept of sensory differences as it applies to child and play therapy work.
Identify how to address sensory needs such as lighting, seating, etc. within a play therapy office/clinic.
Identify toys and materials for sensory affirming work to include in playrooms.
